Hypnosis for Childbirth is a group based programme offered training in tools, skills and techniques to enable parents-to-be to manage and cope more confidently with the childbirth experience. The programme can also be offered on a one to one basis.
Hypnosis for Childbirth uses self-hypnosis, relaxation, visualisation and breathing methods to prepare mind and body for birth. It teaches pain management skills and aims to boost confidence so you manage, rather than fear, childbirth.
It is about reaching a state of deep relaxation, maintaining perception of control over the process and developing a positive attitude. It is about changing the expectation of birth and enabling mothers to go into labour feeling calm and confident. Hypnosis for Childbirth is about helping rather than unintentionally hindering the natural process of childbirth.
This is not about having a ‘designer birth’ but instead equipping you with the psychological skills to adjust to whatever may be happening, and the confidence to use those skills helpfully when required.
